Haiku #1

oceans between us -
and you sit in the next room
your head in your hands

Haiku #2

weeping beauty tames
heart of philandering prince
- in your dreams baby

Calliope gone walk about…

12 05 2008

LemonSunrise Flickr Creative CommonsStruggling the last couple of days to come up with anything worth putting on here. I have tried writing about the everyday but keep coming back to the same themes:

Haiku #1

star-crossed teenagers,
grew up disillusioned to
find their dreams were dust

promised happiness,
always around the corner
or living next door

I was wondering what would have happened had Romeo and Juliet lived. I might be a little cynical about teenage love affairs…

Haiku #2

8.50 city bound
express straight to you - waiting
with love in your eyes

Haiku #3

car alarms ringing
distant freeway traffic hums
- suburbs never sleep

When I wake in the morning with the first plane flying over my house and the hum of the traffic on the freeway at the end of my street I am amazed by just how noisy the suburbs are at 5.00 am. Birdsong is not waking me at the moment and I miss it already.

Autumn musings…

Haiku #1//www.flickr.com/photos/acb/64861723/

Love 2.0,
online acts of treachery -
seduce the lovelorn

Haiku #2

serenity calls,
choirs of angels and Nick Drake -
tired soul sedated

Haiku #3

storm water passage,
under the mean streets - finding
the cool green ocean

Haiku #4

familiar faces,
- monday morning commuters
avoid eye contact

In the Great Tradition of Marcus Clarke…

8 05 2008

Marcus Clarke author, bohemian and librarian was one of the many librarians who wrote on company time. It is a great tradition. Now we write blogs and wikis. Who I am to ridicule tradition?

This mornings train ride:

Co-joined Haiku #1 and #2LemonSunrise Flickr Creative Commons

selfish heart betrays
lines crossed by indifference
to secret wishes…

spilling your secrets
spiteful and hallow revenge
guilt and remorse grows

Haiku #3

Marquez wrote of love
unrequited - raw passion
gut-wrenching desire…

Haiku #4

Our music filled house
Quiet now - I long to hear
Your guitar again

Haiku #5

In a drunken haze
stumbling across you - eyes meet
unexpectedly…

Insomina…

8 05 2008

2.52 am

buzzing florescent
humming distant traffic
pen scratching paper

2.55 am

standing on the edge
startled by your smile
heart breaking again

3.31 am

counting syllables
like a piano player
striking the keyboard

beat poets practice
invisible scales to find
that haiku rhythm

three blind men stumble
as the train lurches forward
they walk down the aisle

3.41 am - I like this one:

inarticulate
poet -  wounded by failed
romance - seeking same

Monday Haiku

13 04 2008

#1

abating firestorms
reveal broken wings - failure
inevitable

#2

opaqueness prevails -
grab bag of drooping cliches
revealing nothing

Preemptive strike - weekend haiku #1

11 04 2008

skipping to the end
preemptive strike before you -
decide to walk out

Peace out…

Haiku for today - theme love

Haiku #1

summer fades away
lovers share a final kiss
ending their brief affair

Haiku #2

one moment, quick glance
watching as pages flutter
book closed - she looks up

Haiku #3

Tremble with desire
Breeze caressing their bare skin
All night they embrace

Peace
