My first crocheted Dalek...

Here is my latest project a crocheted Dalek. The pattern is available here. Thanks to Nys for her advice on making the arms(!?) It’s back to Christmas gift making now. He wasn’t nearly as difficult to make as anticipated. I have only been crocheting for 6 months or so and with a bit of help from friends and youtube – woo hoo he is done!

October. Reaching around to turn out the lights, Lisa looked forlornly at the Christmas tree in the corner. The horror of two months of blinking lights and piped Christmas music was tipping her over the edge. Nothing but superficial, hyper-reality mass consumerism. It was discrimination to make her endure the torture. With resolve Lisa dialed the human resources department – she was going to get Christmas banned.

Here is my finished grenade. Props to the people at Craft Cartel –   for getting subversive with crochet! It is very tactile and I plan on making a few as Christmas gifts. A ironic present.

Kate Kendall got the ball rolling on social media Friday breakfasts at Mr Tulk. It is an excellent concept. I have attended two so far and there is definitely a buzz when you meet up with others who are giving social media a go in different contexts.

I have met some really cool people. It is a diverse bunch and they keep coming back. I decided to check it out when I started using twitter and stumbled across people talking about #socialmelb. Pop along to meet some great people, share ideas and learn something.

crocheted grenade in progress

I haven’t been blogging or writing a lot lately. I have discovered a passion for crochet and have immersed myself in wool, hooks and patterns. I have also discovered an enclave where library folk craft wonderful objects.

We held our first library stitch n bitch last week and the time went so fast. We have also started our new  group blog and it is available here. I am working on a crocheted grenade at the moment. It is the best form of social networking: getting together with like minded people to create *beam*.

Pattern available from the Craft Cartel. Craft with a difference! It is a work in progress but I have already have a couple of friends ask for their own.

I will try to blog more regularly.
