Display me…. more on signage

I have received some lovely snap frames. A low cost option for displaying posters/notices etc… and making them look professional. You may be familiar with snap frames the are often used on the backs of toilet doors in pubs and clubs.

They look like this. I have been rushing around the library showing people. They are so cool. I will post some before and after photos once they are installed.

I wonder if we could get away with promoting library stuff on the back of our toilet doors?

haiku #1

comfort in silence
sharing the ordinary
heart & soul connect

haiku #2

another nameless bar,
watching the door & waiting
with that sinking feeling

haiku #3

pretending to be a tourist with no agenda but to enjoy…

My daughter went to see Picasso’s (is the Picasso necessary) Guernica yesterday in Madrid. She is having a fantastic time.

This morning I was thinking about how you could use your ipod on shuffle to predict the future. The song that plays first is a predictor of how your day is going to be. It’s as valid as astrology. You could slant the predictions in your favour but creating play lists with a select few songs on it.

My play lists have names like…

  • feel good
  • chillin’
  • getting jiggy wit it
  • get down
  • mellow
  • girlz
  • running
  • new stuff

On the way to work today I listened to my feel good list - and I do!

Peace

LemonSunrise Flickr Creative CommonsStruggling the last couple of days to come up with anything worth putting on here. I have tried writing about the everyday but keep coming back to the same themes:

Haiku #1

star-crossed teenagers,
grew up disillusioned to
find their dreams were dust

promised happiness,
always around the corner
or living next door

I was wondering what would have happened had Romeo and Juliet lived. I might be a little cynical about teenage love affairs…

Haiku #2

8.50 city bound
express straight to you - waiting
with love in your eyes

Haiku #3

car alarms ringing
distant freeway traffic hums
- suburbs never sleep

When I wake in the morning with the first plane flying over my house and the hum of the traffic on the freeway at the end of my street I am amazed by just how noisy the suburbs are at 5.00 am. Birdsong is not waking me at the moment and I miss it already.

Autumn musings…

Love 2.0,
online acts of treachery -
seduce the lovelorn

Haiku #2

serenity calls,
choirs of angels and Nick Drake -
tired soul sedated

Haiku #3

storm water passage,
under the mean streets - finding
the cool green ocean

familiar faces,
- monday morning commuters
avoid eye contact

I have been watching Season 4 and loving it. It is very topical - obesity, global warming, war etc… A friend posted this on his Facebook profile and I thought I would share it with you. Apologies for cross posting:

Enjoy - I did!

In the Great Tradition of Marcus Clarke…

Marcus Clarke author, bohemian and librarian was one of the many librarians who wrote on company time. It is a great tradition. Now we write blogs and wikis. Who I am to ridicule tradition?

This mornings train ride:

selfish heart betrays
lines crossed by indifference
to secret wishes…

spilling your secrets
spiteful and hallow revenge
guilt and remorse grows

Haiku #3

Marquez wrote of love
unrequited - raw passion
gut-wrenching desire…

Haiku #4

Our music filled house
Quiet now - I long to hear
Your guitar again

Haiku #5

In a drunken haze
stumbling across you - eyes meet
unexpectedly…

like a piano player
striking the keyboard

beat poets practice
invisible scales to find

three blind men stumble
as the train lurches forward
they walk down the aisle

round and plump natures gift - a
